⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 stars!
“The Night Olivia Fell”, is a wonderful mystery/thriller, focusing on a teenage girl who falls off a bridge in the middle of the night and when found she is taken to the hospital and discovered brain dead and pregnant. Soon you are forced down a rabbit hole of twists and turns of what exactly happened that night and who is the baby’s father. Told back and forth between Abi (Olivia’s mom) and Olivia the pieces slowly get put together and it’s a fairly immersive read!
I really enjoyed how this book was structured. I liked how we gradually got to see from what happened after the accident to before; switching on off between chapters. Having it written this way really kept the pages turning. I really like reading and watching anything with mother/daughter relationships and I thought this book showed that relationship well (even if Abi was slightly annoying). I thought I had the ending guessed, but I’m glad I was wrong in my prediction. The reveal wasn’t too shocking, but I don’t think this story necessarily needed a wow ending.
I can’t even imagine what it would be like to go through something like this. To have your own child brain dead and pregnant and have to make all these very tough decisions. So another thing I really appreciated was how realistic the situation felt. It’s horrific in its realization, but that’s what makes this book good!
Overall, this book didn't exceed my expectations, but I did very much enjoy the mystery and the “who did it” plot line.
